A limerick a week #120

Goodness gracious … great balls of fire! 

This week’s limerick is inspired by our neighbouring town’s famous Hogmanay fireball ceremony…

When the Old Year senescently crawls
To a close, that’s when it befalls
The Stonehaven folk
To go swinging, and stoke
The flames of their smouldering balls.
